PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY
Our Educational Philosophy
At Little Farmhouse Preschool, our hearts are in play-based, hands-on learning. We believe that purposeful, playful exploration is the spark that brings out strong language skills, early math and reading habits, deep emotional growth, and endless imagination. We guide our days with a high-quality curriculum designed just for young learners, and we are proud to be certified through the West Sacramento Home Run program.
We are also thrilled to be a part of the CA Quality Counts Inclusion Pilot Program. We provide a cozy, inclusive space where every single child gets the tailored support they need to bloom socially, emotionally, and academically. Every educational and guidance decision we make is firmly rooted in our deep knowledge of child development.
Our Connection to Nature & Outdoor Learning
We believe the great outdoors gives children irreplaceable hands-on experiences. Our unique indoor/outdoor learning environment is intentionally designed to connect children with the natural world. On our little farm, our students engage in wonderful daily rituals:
-
Tending Our Gardens: Little hands plant, grow, and harvest fruits and vegetables, learning firsthand where their food comes from.
-
Caring for Our Animals: Daily interactions with our farm animals teach children kindness, empathy, and a deep appreciation for life and our ecosystem.
-
Growing Together: Research shows that children who spend regular time in nature become creative thinkers, confident problem-solvers, and collaborative peers.
Because we know that not every child has regular access to open green spaces, our primary mission is to open our gates and share this enriching environment with as many families as possible.
Individual Growth, Rights, and Responsibilities
We view each child as a unique individual with their own needs, pacing, and timeline. We are dedicated to meeting their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth by providing diverse, exciting experiences in a deeply supportive environment.
We believe that when we love, trust, and respect a child, we empower them to love, trust, and respect others. As our little ones learn to navigate their own rights and choices, we gently guide them to recognize, value, and respect the rights and feelings of those around them.
Our Commitment to Families and Professional Ethics
Our values are deeply rooted in the history of early childhood education. We operate under the firm belief that every child has an inherent right to feel valued and confident. To support this, we believe children deserve capable, caring teachers whose personal and professional values enable them to serve as excellent role models. We also hold your family’s privacy close to our hearts, ensuring strict confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Finally, we believe that the home is the most vital ingredient in a child's development. We do not look to replace the family, but to partner with you. We will always strive to support, respect, and complement your family structure so we can work together to promote the healthy, happy development of your child.
