Welcome to Little Farmhouse Preschool!
PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY:
At Little Farmhouse Preschool, we use play-based, hands-on learning that follows a quality educational curriculum as part of our pedagogy. We are a Certified High-Quality Preschool program through the West Sacramento Home Run Program. We believe that play-based learning encourages language skills, supports pre-literacy and math skills, develops social and emotional skills, and fosters creativity and imagination. Our school exists to allow children the opportunity to learn and grow in an indoor/outdoor inclusive learning environment. We understand how important outdoor learning is and that it provides children with hands-on learning experiences in nature. Children are able to grow fruits and vegetables in our garden and care for animals on our little farm on a daily basis. This daily interaction that is weaved throughout the curriculum cultivates an appreciation for nature, life, and the ecosystem which is our world. Research shows that children that spend time in nature are more creative, are better problem solvers, perform better in academics, and can relate better to peers. Not all children have access to outdoor spaces with gardens and animals, so our main purpose is to provide this for as many children as possible.
We believe in the value of human diversity and the fair treatment of all people. Our values and beliefs about children are deeply rooted in the history of early childhood education. We believe all children have the right to feel good about themselves and it is the responsibility of all teachers to nurture the child’s self-worth. We believe when able, the home is the most important factor in a child’s development. We will always strive to support and complement the family in order to promote the healthy development of children and families. We believe loving, trusting, and respecting each child enables that child to love, trust, and respect others. Each child and family are due the respect for personal privacy demanded by professional ethics. We believe it is important to meet each child’s needs for physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth by providing diverse experiences in a supportive environment. We believe each person is a unique individual and has their own needs. Each person has a right to meet this need their own way and in their own time. However, one of the responsibilities of having rights is recognizing and respecting the rights of others. We believe children deserve to have teachers who are capable and caring and whose values enable them to be excellent role models. Our educational and guidance decisions must be based on our knowledge of child development.
OUR MISSION:
At Little Farmhouse Preschool, we provide hands-on play-based learning opportunities in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that helps children grow and develop in and out of the classroom.
We take pride in our highly qualified and caring teachers. We share a commitment to creating a community with our families through inclusive practices and support and open communication. We strive to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can express and celebrate their individuality. We believe that experiences rooted in nature allow children to connect and grow to their full potential physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. Little Farmhouse Preschool takes pride in its reputation for quality education and strives to uphold and promote values and principles, which encompass fairness and honesty.
OUR VISION:
It is our number one goal to provide the kind of environment and influences that encourage all children to become creative, independent, compassionate, responsible, well-rounded, self-directed adults who can make decisions for themselves. Our desire is for excellence in meeting the needs of children and their families for nurturing, growth and development, relationships, and understanding. We know that not all children have access to quality education, gardens, and animals; our intent is to provide this type of education that is affordable and accessible to all. To be able to do this, we try to keep our costs low and tuition affordable. We also have spaces set aside for students that are funded through local subsidies that help provide education to students with identified families.

COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be making adaptations and modifications to our planned program to ensure the health and safety of our students, families, and teachers. Everyone's health and safety are our top priority. The majority of our school day will be conducted outdoors in an outdoor classroom. We have a beautiful outdoor space, so we will be taking this time to use it as much as possible. The fresh air will help ensure we stay safe.
We will be implementing best practices for hygiene. Children will wash their hands upon entering the school, which is part of our normal routine. Shoes will be removed at the door, which is also part of our normal routine. Parents will sign in/sign out using the Brightwheel app and we are asking to drop off students at the door to limit the number of people entering our building.
There will be no outside toys permitted at school.
Only healthy children will be permitted at school. Normally we allow minor colds and coughs at school, but not at this time during the pandemic. If we have any concerns about a child's health, we will err on the side of caution and send the child home. Please have a plan in place for your child to be picked up quickly in case the need should arise.
If you have been exposed to COVID or if anyone in your house has tested positive for COVID, please keep your child home and follow appropriate quarantine and testing procedures and let us know right away. We will work with you to determine when it is safe for your child to return to school. Please test for COVID frequently (if possible) and if any symptoms occur.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate through these uncertain times.
